Textured Nursery Pots

Hi Guys, welcome back!

This is blog post number two! Most of the time I start a project and never finish it, So this is a big accomplishment.

I thought for post number two I would show everyone a quick little project!

The number one killer of plants is overwatering! You want to make sure that your pots have holes on the bottom, so when you water your plants, the water can drain out. Nursery pots are most common but aren’t that pretty. The “prettier pots” tend to be made of heavy ceramic and can run on the expensive side.

So let’s make something in the middle, inexpensive AND pretty.

I purchased caulking from the dollar store, and I already had this small nursery pot, but they are inexpensive at your local hardware store!

I gave the outside of the pot a good layer of caulking and smoothed it out with my finger.

Once the caulking was smoothed out, I let it dry for maybe 5-10 minutes. I then grabbed a rounded tip brush (my poor makeup brush) and press a bunch of holes into the caulking. I am trying to create a pounded copper look, but you can really make any texture you want in the caulking

Now that the texture is made, we wait. We want to make sure this caulking is completely dry before we spray paint it.

I am using Krylon’s metallic copper spray paint and I sprayed two thin layers over the caulking. I want to make sure all the white is covered and once done, we wait for the piece to completely dry.

Now that your pot is painted and dried, you can really plant whatever your little heart desires. I want you to keep in mind that you can use any size pot for this project! If you want to plant something big, do the same thing, you just might need a little more caulking! I decided to plant my Pilea Glauca cuttings that have been rooting for the last couple of weeks. They are small and will live just fine in this tiny pot.

I would love for you to comment on this post if you end up recreating this project or just really liked all the pictures! I appreciate your support.

ARE YOU READY TO SEE THE FINAL PROJECT????

I cant wait to see you create this!! Make sure to follow me on my other social media platforms to see more fun stuff!!

Till Next time,

-H.

BONUS IDEA!!

I first did this concept on a stand I found on the curb. Don’t be afraid to pick up a little trash, because it might be your next treasure!
